Genealogical Research is the study of families and the tracing of their lineage.  You may also want to find a specific person in a family’s past and connect him or her to other members of that family. Genealogy is interested solely in who is in the family and who they are related to, which might also tract dates of births, marriages and deaths.

Genealogy plays a very important role in helping to restore families that have been displaced for many generations and to rediscover lost history.

Genealogists or genealogical researchers use oral tradition (information from family members), historical records (volume of notes, manuscripts, pictures, photostats, maps etc), genetic analysis (DNA), tomb stones and other records to obtain information.
